The project of shared paths that will lead through
a valley along the Ticha Orlice and Trebovka Rivers

The project of shared paths that will lead through a valley along the Ticha Orlice and Trebovka Rivers was developed by the union of municipalities in the Region of Orlicko-Trebovsko, with an exceptionally intensive cooperation with municipalities, and with a financial support from the Pardubice Region.

The project was implemented between 2001 and 2012, when 40km of new cycleways was constructed with a total cost of CZK 140 million (EUR 5.6 million), including three sections of the cycle routes:

  • Usti nad Orlici – Ceska Trebova 9.756km
  • Usti nad Orlici – Letohrad 14.956km
  • Usti nad Orlici – Chocen 14.692km

The main goal of the project was to deliver a unique infrastructure in the region for both locals and tourists to enjoy leisure time and recreational activities in the beautiful valley with meandering rivers, with a special focus on bike tourism and roller skating. The project also aims to prove the return on similar projects for the whole society. Last, but not least, the project aims to interconnect municipalities in the region with a network for safe everyday cycling.

The newly built cycleways led to rerouting of the long-distance cycle route No. 18 into a new route Choceň – Ústí nad Orlicí - Letohrad.
